Gameplay and Jinxes
The Duck Detective is a solo-player Blood on the Clocktower script. You have traveled to town to solve the case and find all evil!
There are new mechanics and a custom traveler. So be sure to read how this is played and any relevant jinxes associated with The Duck Detective.
The Traveller: Duck Detective
Each day, reveal up to four seats' claims. You may use any revealed characters ability once per game and cannot target yourself.
The detective only has so much time in a day. They can talk to four seats each day, revealing their claimed character, and use any abilities they wish. Afterwards, they must either execute a seat or go to sleep for the night. The demon prioritizes unrevealed seats, but can kill whoever they feel necessary.
Each ability can only be used once per game and cannot target the detective, so choose wisely. This also applies to on-going evil characters, such as pit-hag.
Gameplay Fables
Gameplay has been broken up into fables to help story tellers remember a few important custom mechanics. They are as follows:
Duck
The player always starts as a good-aligned Duck Detective. All evils must be executed to win and if 2 or more good-aligned players are executed, evil wins.
The detective always starts as a good traveler. Their mission is to hunt and execute all players of the evil team. However, they must be careful when choosing to execute, since executing 2 good players will cause evil to claim victory over the town!
Duck
When a character dies by execution, their character and alignment is revealed. When a character dies by other means, the Duck Detective learns their claim but not their information.
When the demon kills, they will prioritize unrevealed characters. This can cause some confusion as the duck cannot be certain of their claim. With Vigormortis as a demon, their minions can still hide when dying at night, continuing to spread chaos. It is up to the detective to put all of these pieces together and determine who the liars are.
Other characters, such as Golem or Gossip, can also cause the detective to only learn claims. Yet they can also help narrow down the list of suspects!
Goose!
All Townsfolk and Outsider abilities act immediately. Evil, drunk, poisoned, and bluffing characters yield incorrect information.
This is an essential part of the script as there is no "social" aspect to help the detective determine good characters from evil.
When the detective asks for information or decides to use an ability, it will happen immediately. If they gossip correctly, a player will be killed right in townsquare. If they asked for the High Priestess or Juggler information, this is given publicly during the day as opposed to at night. The same is true evil characters that are bluffing information roles.
However, drunk, poisoned, and bluffing characters will also yield incorrect information, allowing evil to hide amongst town.
